Some of us have a special place in our hearts for special needs animals.
All too often, it is these animals who are most at risk of being euthanized because people just don’t want them.
Sure, they take extra care and attention. But they are also some of the most loving and grateful pets around.
Watch here to see the story of a special needs dog named Cody. Cody was born with a birth defect.
In many cases, he would have been quickly euthanized. But thankfully that is not how Cody’s story goes.
Instead, he was brought to a shelter where his life was saved. His new family loves him unconditionally, and they are constantly amazed at how well he does without his two front legs.
His family recalls a time when he came across a fallen tree. Instead of lying down and giving up, Cody simply jumped over it almost like any other dog would.
Cody’s new home is full of love and companionship. He has a tripod, canine brother and a senior dog that the family also adopted.
Despite having all these special needs animals, the family remains active including frequent camping adventures.
Most of the time, Cody gets around by hopping on his hind legs. But his family also had a special cart made to help Cody get around more easily.
“If you have the time, the energy, and a little bit of extra love to give, why not adopt a special needs dog?” his human said.
