Animal lovers everywhere enjoy learning about rare animals, but of course the cutest ones are the most fun to discover.
So, today we want to introduce you to one of what we would deem the cutest little creatures ever. And you’re going to be grateful that we did.
Now, they aren’t well known because they are actually the last surviving species of their family. And, the animals they are most closely related to are hyenas.
But, don’t worry they look nothing like them. Meet the Aardwolf.
And, no they are not related to wolves or ardvarks. They are in a totally different family of their own.
And speaking of families, they are extremely family-oriented.
Scientists used to think of them as solitary creatures. That’s because their low numbers and their tendency to be active at night made them difficult for scientists to research.
The fact is that they are actually very family-oriented.
They are shy and nocturnal, and they sleep in burrows during the day.
They tend to avoid human interaction, though when it comes to interacting with each other, these little guys are as social as they come.
And speaking of being social with their families, their babies are unbelievably cute.
See? How adorable!
When they are first born they are tiny. But, when they are full grown they are about the size of a fox. And they live off of mainly insects, preferably termites!
Aardwolves are very protective of their babies and families in general. Which just makes us like them even more.
What do you think about the Aarwolf? Aren’t you glad you learned that this much cuteness exists in our world?!
