Romantic relationships are tough. Even the very best ones can be challenging.
Experts and those with a lot of experience in the relationship “front lines” will tell you that the only way a relationship can work is if both parties are willing to compromise.
Any partner that issues an ultimatum should be very prepared to deal with the consequences. As the old saying goes, “Be careful what you wish for.”
One man learned the hard way that sometimes you have to let go of some things if you want to be truly happy. It was a hard decision.
One day his girlfriend told him it was either her, or his dog. He had to make a choice.
He knew it was going to crack his heart to make the decision. But, his relationships and friendships were important to him, so he did what he had to do.
He was saddened. But, he knew that putting it off would just make it more difficult.
So, he sat down at his computer, opened up Craigslist and placed an ad.
He didn’t take a lot of time writing it. After all, she had to go. And go quickly.
His ad didn’t even ask for the prerequisite “good home.” Just looking for anyone that was willing to take her off his hands. Quickly.
A man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do. Even when it hurts.
The finished ad read as follows:
“My girlfriend does not like my beagle Molly, so I have to rehome her.”
His ad went on, “She is a purebred from a wealthy area
and I have had her for 4 years. She likes to play games.”
“Not totally trained. Has long hair so she’s a little high maintenance, especially the nails, but she loves having them done.”
“Stays up all night yapping but sleeps while I work. Only eats the best, most expensive food. Will NEVER greet you at the door after a long day or give you unconditional love when you’re down. Does not bite, but she can be mean as hell!”
The ad concluded with, “So…anyone interested in my 30-year-old, selfish, wicked, gold-digging girlfriend? Come and get her! Me and my dog want to rehomed ASAP!!”
And, that, my friends, is how a REAL man meets such cruel ultimatums in a relationship. Women may come and go, but you can count on the fact that your dog will always love you. We’re guessing he didn’t get many takers for the “mean as hell” girlfriend. But we are sure he and Molly and having a lovely time alone together again.
Note: His ad was recently updated with the message: “Sorry, but she has been re-homed.Her original breeders (her parents) have taken her back. Molly & I are looking for a new one ☺”
Awwwww. I wonder if they have an online dating profile somewhere?
