What Do You Get A Golden Retriever With A Broken Heart?

Cash is a 12-year-old golden retriever that has a great home. His family loves him and takes care of him like a good family should.

He has a safe place to live, great food, tons of attention from his human parents, and some great toys to play with. So, he has every reason to be happy.

But, when his doggy sister, Rosie, died his owners say that he got depressed. He was sleeping most of the day, and he lost that spring in his step.

It was to be expected that he would grieve his loss, and grieve he did for about a year.

“He’s been the best dog we’ve ever had,” Marie Ahonen, his owner, told KTVU. “When Rosie died, he just kind of seemed lost. He slept 23 and a half hours a day. He just needed more excitement in his life.”

His owners knew he needed time to mourn, so they gave it a little while. But after about a year, they knew that something had to be done. So, they did what any loving parents would do.

They surprised him with a gift.

They brought the gift into the room where Cash was and put it on the floor in front of him. Cash was very curious as to just what was inside that box, and started to investigate.

Cash started sniffing the box and getting excited. And, when they lifted the lid he couldn’t believe his eyes. What he saw made him go completely wild with joy.
