Angelica Hears A Gunshot In 3-Year-Old’s Bedroom – Runs In To See Opie The Cat Just Saved His Life

Pets are remarkable animals.

They touch our lives each and every day and occasionally, they actually save our lives.

And in the case of Opie the hero cat, he saved a life simply by being in exactly the right place at the right time.

Angelica Sipe of York, Pennsylvania will always remember the day Opie saved her 3-year-old son’s life.

One terrifying day, Angelica heard a gunshot very close to their home.

Concerned for her son Daemire, she rushed to his bedroom; the first thing she saw was a large hole in the window.

On the verge of panicking, she looked for her son…thankfully, he appeared to be safe and sound.

But then she spotted the family cat, Opie, who was lying on the floor and bleeding.

“The first thing I did was check on my son and he was sound asleep.

Then I saw my cat on the floor, and that’s when I realized my cat was shot.”

Incredibly, though the bullet had entered Opie’s head, the cat was still alive.

And perhaps most amazing of all, Angelica noticed where Opie had been lying:

The bullet had smashed through the glass and had actually hit the pillow on which little Daemire had been sleeping.

And as Opie had been shot in the head, it seems he’d been on or near that pillow and had the bullet not hit Opie…

“If my cat was not lying where he was, the bullet would have hit my son.”

Relieved that her son was okay but suddenly frightened for Opie, she rushed the injured pet to the hospital.

The vet said he could either put the cat down or try to save him with emergency surgery.

And given what Opie had just done for the family, Angelica knew she had to try to save the hero animal’s life.

It would be expensive but she owed it to the animal who had taken a bullet for her son.

Thankfully, it turned out to be the right option because Opie survived!

Even though it was inadvertent and just a mere twist of fate, Opie remains a hero in the eyes of Angelica and her son.

As well he should.
