John Wells was a New York resident who needed an adventure. He wanted to escape the hustle and bustle of city life, so he packed up all he had and moved west.
It sounds like a story from the days of the Wild West and frontier explorers.
But this is the story of a man of modern times who wanted to step back in time, a little bit. He constructed a modern home using solar energy and recycled materials.
He isolated himself a bit more than most of us would be comfortable with and went largely “off the grid.”
After seeing the wildlife around his new home, Wells came up with a creative idea.
He placed a waterproof camera inside a bucket of water and then set it out in the middle of nowhere.
His hope was that passing animals would take him up on his generous offer of water and that he would get some great images in return. He was not disappointed.
“I was pleasantly surprised during the edit to see that George [the rabbit] made an appearance. I know him from all the other rabbits because of the tiny notch in his ear,” Wells said.
Other creatures who took advantage of Wells’ kind gesture included birds, chickens, bees, a donkey and a cow.
The images captured by Wells give us a glimpse into the lives of animals that we do not typically see.
These animals are truly precious and adorable. It is also a bit humorous. After all, have you ever seen how big a cow’s tongue is?
