Leala Was Frantic to Get Dave To Follow. She Seemed To Know They Only Had Seconds Left.

When you’re visiting friends, you can usually expect a fun, relaxing time. But, for one family that time turned into a nightmare.

David Kenney was with his family visiting friends in Australia when their Staffordshire Bull Terrier, named Leala, came up to him. She was soaking wet and jumping around frantically.

The dog kept acting weird, seeming like she wanted Kenney to follow her. She was so persistent, that he finally went with her. And thank God he did.

She led him to a dam and lying face down in the water was Kenney’s 2-year-old son, Alexander. Needless to say, Kenney was horrified.

The Animal Rescue Site reports: “It was what I wished not to see. It was a mixture of disbelief, horror, and sadness. It was indescribable really, but then everything was a blur,” Kenney told the Coffs Coast Advocate.

The next 27 minutes were all but a nightmare as Kenny and two of his friends tried to revive the toddler. Thankfully, their efforts were not in vain.

They managed to get his heart pumping blood again before a medical rescue team arrived.

When Kenney arrived at the hospital with his son, they told him he had to be kept in an induced coma for the next two days, and would likely suffer from severe brain damage when he woke up.

After the two days passed, Kenney and his wife waited, expecting the worst, while the hospital staff brought their toddler out of his induced coma.

But to everyone’s complete shock, as soon as he could breathe on his own, he immediately asked for his parents. The doctors were stunned that he had made a complete recovery.

If it hadn’t been for a loving, family dog, Alexander wouldn’t have had a chance. Thank goodness for amazing dogs like Leala.
