Cop Sees Stranded Car And Pulls Over To Help…He Looks Under The Hood And Instantly Springs Into Action

We’ve heard a lot of stories about firemen being called to get a cat out of a tree. Recently, we ran a story about a police officer who jumped into murky water, over his head, to rescue a little poodle.

We love stories that prove that animal lovers come in all shapes and sizes. And wearing all kinds of uniforms.

A couple of Arlington, Texas police officers joined the ranks of people who deserve huge kudos.

They went above and beyond just to save the life of a tired and dehydrated little kitten that had chosen the wrong place to run for safety.

This time it wasn’t curiosity that almost killed the cat…but simply a bad choice.

Police officer Austin Kidd and his partner Rob Phillips had just pulled out on the highway after investigating a burglary when a driver flagged him over.

Thinking the driver had a stalled car, the officers pulled over ready to assist.

But, it wasn’t the driver that had the biggest problem in the situation. It was the tiny orange kitten that had sought safety between the brake rotor and the rear wheel.

That’s where the situation got hairy. If the driver had driven on, the kitten wouldn’t have been able to get out in time and would have been killed.

So, the officers took the wheel off the car in an attempt to save the little guy. But, just as the wheel came off, the kitten jumped out before they could catch him.

He didn’t get far. He laid down in the road. Obviously suffering from the heat as well as the stressful situation.

“Phillips and I approached the kitten to remove him from the road, but he was very aggressive and tried to bite us,” Kidd told Dallas News.

They knew the kitten was simply reacting out of terror and pain, but they still didn’t want to risk getting bitten. Officer Kidd called for Animal Control to come help.

Before they could get there, the kitten summoned up extra strength and ran to a different car that had stopped for a red light.

The officers stopped the stunned driver of that car to save the kitten’s life. This time Animal Control officers had arrived and were able to reach the little ginger kitten a little easier.

He was weary and so dehydrated he could barely move by that time. It helped the rescue efforts that the kitten was so weak he couldn’t run away.

He didn’t seem to exhibit any signs of other injuries, so he was taken directly to a shelter.

We absolutely love the pictures taken of the police officers during this out-of-the-ordinary day on the job. Isn’t that a priceless smile?

We sort of figure that this kitten used up one of his lives that day. But, with great cops like these guys around, maybe he will get help again the next time he’s close to losing another.

We love when we can end any story with a smile. But, this particular story and smile is going to stick with us for quite a while. Great job guys. Carry on!
