Heidi Donohue and Antonino Bellavista were both in mourning after their precious fur baby Egypt crossed the rainbow bridge. Sadly, tragedy struck this family again only a few days later when a devastating house fire took everything else from them as well — including their other kitty cat named Mimzy.
A Couple in Mourning
A little over a week ago, Heidi and Antonino had to have their precious fur baby Egypt put down — and it broke their hearts. However, they still had some small comfort at home with their adorable kitty cat Mimzy.
Heidi told us that little Mimzy was a treat from the beginning. She would curl up around their shoulders, chirp at them, and give the loving couple plenty of head boops too.
A couple of years ago, Heidi fell ill. She told us that Mimzy had been a constant companion for her.
“Whenever I was ill, wrecked with nausea and vomiting laying on the sofa barely able to move, there she was,” said Heidi. “She was either sleeping on me or next to me but she always had to be touching me like she wanted me to know she was there.”
Heidi and Antonino were both still trying to wrap their heads around losing Egypt when tragedy struck them again — the very same week.
The couple was two hours away from home when they received the phone call — their house was on fire. By the time they got back, everything they owned was gone, including their precious Mimzy.
According to the fire marshall, the blaze started because of a faulty power outlet behind their couch. Heidi told us that they made sure they always plugged things into a surge protector.
The couple did everything in their power to keep their home and their pets safe. Sadly, tragedy strikes even those of us that do everything we’re supposed to.
Picking up the Pieces
Now, as you can imagine, at the moment, Heidi and Antonino are still trying to wrap their heads around what’s next. Indeed, there’s more to deal with than any of us should have to.
Heidi and Antonino and their 2 dogs Lillith and Bowser are currently homeless. picking up the pieces, finding a new house, and making it a home again will take them quite some time.
And the couple has to do all that with their hearts ripped out of their chests grieving over the loss of not one, but both of their kitty cats.
